Join us for a fabulously fun night at Karamel Club, where we'll take over the entire venue - you can socialise in the restaurant area over food and drinks, or dance the night away if you're up for some groovy beats!
(There will always be a seating area dedicated to quieter conversations.)
THE FOOD
Karamel's menu varies every time! (It's announced on a blackboard.) Burgers and pizzas are usually on offer, often alongside a special of the day, like an Indian thali or a stir fry inspired by East Asian cuisines; plus of course a number of delicious sides and desserts.
For this Mixer, there will be a special Italian option thanks to Adriana, vegan food blogger @avegtastefromatoz. This "Ithalian" (as surely that's what Italian food served on a thali platter ought to be called!) combination will include an antipasti spread, a main (your choice of pasta or soup) and a side.
THE MUSIC
As background for the first part of the night: instrumental live music played by Mixer regular Alfie Paca.
Deejay set curated by DJÄK (@djakfruit) from 9pm: an eclectic mix of dance music across a broad spectrum including house, rap, pop, drum and bass, dubstep, r'n'b and more.
ATTENDING
Entry to the event is totally free, but please do support the venue by buying some of their delicious food and drinks (both 100% vegan!).
All are welcome, and we strive to make the event a safe and inclusive space for everyone - no discriminatory or abusive behaviour of any kind will be tolerated.
THE VENUE
Karamel is a very short walk from Wood Green Tube station (Piccadilly Line). The entrance to the venue is step-free and there is a wheelchair-accessible toilet. Karamel is dog-friendly, so feel free to bring your furry friends if they'll enjoy it.
Originally founded and run by vegan activists, today it’s operated by Collage Arts (a charity supporting the local community) and managed by the lovely Kath who, together with her charming husband Roger, also prepares the delicious homemade food served there… in very generous portions ;) and not forgetting the fairly affordable prices!
For well over a decade now, Karamel has been at the heart of London’s vegan community, helping it reach its current size - for example:
giving a new home to London Vegan Drinks (a London Vegan Meetup event and Europe’s largest vegan social gathering at the time!) when it outgrew its preceding venues
providing a welcoming environment for LGBTQ+ vegans (inclusivity and safeguarding having always been a central tenet of theirs) with Fat Gay Vegan's Queer Vegan Disco throwing official or de facto afterparties for many Animal Rights marches and protests
Nowadays, they host not only another London Vegan Meetup event, the regular Geekstraveganza (as they’ve done since its inception in 2016), but also a lot of other wonderful events for both the local area and the wider London vegan community.

THE EVENT
A lazy late morning and early afternoon playing board/card games - as usual, we will have a selection of our favourites, and you're welcome to bring any you want to play. We're always happy to teach rules to newcomers, and the hosts can introduce you to other attendees if you like.
ATTENDING
Everyone is welcome, no matter their level of “geekiness” - quick & easy games will be on offer as well as more complex ones. Feel free to join us at any time, new games will start as people arrive. (And you can leave at any time as well, although we hope you’ll have fun and want to stay until the end!)
Once inside Love Shack, head to the Bunker - the entrance is hidden behind the fake bookcase on the left of the venue's main entrance. (If needed, the bar staff will surely help you!). Look for the hosts if you want to be introduced to the group or would like a suggestion for which games to play.
THE VENUE
We have Love Shack's Bunker (behind the fake bookcase on the left of the venue's main entrance) available for our event, and they are kindly hosting us for free. Please make sure to show your support by ordering some of their delicious food and drinks - all 100% vegan - either before joining us or during/after the event.
Beloved chefs Kath & Roger (and their legendary Sunday roast) are back at Karamel in Wood Green, the original home of GeekstraVEGANza... and so are we!
