I stepped away from Facebook, X (Twitter), and Instagram.
The social feeds felt like a funnel into negativity.
There are also way too many bot accounts floating around, which doesn’t help. It’s like the chaos online has made us all a bit mad.
The good stuff often gets buried under all the noise.
If you're using it as your sanctuary, the key is to try filter out the negativity.
When you come across something negative, just treat it like it's a troll or a bot and not worth your energy.
I like that this place feels like a safe haven.

I typically do treat the negativity like a troll or bot post but that's unfortunately not possible all the time.. People still find ways to find you after you block them. The slander I have gotten was insane.
One time someone actually leaked my address and falsely reported me to my local animal control for "Sharing videos about vacuum sealing cats".
My local shelter is smart thankfully and knows well enough that I don't do that.
But it's like why try to share my name to grow when people are just gonna drag me through the mud...?
It's honestly incredible that I've actually found as many good opportunities on Facebook as I have.

I personally can't stand Facebook and barely use it anymore. However, it's still one of the most popular social media platforms on the planet and I can't see that changing anytime soon.

It's important to look after yourself though but I understand the difficulty when your sanctuary is still benefit to from Facebook. Is there perhaps someone that could run the page for you? That was the sanctuary still gets the benefits but you don't have to deal with the ocean of idiots and bots...

Unfortunately no.. I'm basically operating by myself.

They are 100% indoor, so they have created their routine and space
Only problem i have is finding a vegan cat sitter when I am away

How long do you often go away for?
I have 3 indoor cats and usually if I have to go away like 2-3 days tops, I just make sure food and water dishes are full and that litter boxes are cleaned beforehand. They usually do okay by themselves for a couple of days.

Welcome to the platform. I know how you feel about losing friends in exchange for a more fulfilling life. When I went vegan, my former classmates turned on me and started cracking all sorts of rude jokes about veganism.
The one comment that sent me over the edge was "I'm a second hand vegan, I eat cows and they eat plants".
I decided to cut all ties with them and block them.
They graduated school with me, so the fact that they wanted to act childish like that while I smartened up and left a cruel past behind was honestly disappointing.
