The Problem with Pushing Veganism Too Hard
I don’t think the way a lot of vegans try to spread veganism really works. I’ve seen people argue with non-vegans so much that it backfires — the more they push, the more resistance they create. In my experience, I’ve had better results when I don’t try to “convince” anyone but just explain why I personally don’t eat meat. I’ve also seen couples trying to convince each other why eating meat is unethical, and it often just turns into an argument. I feel like if someone is genuinely interested, they don’t need a lot of convincing — a few clear points are enough. It’s not rocket science. I also think people are more likely to be influenced by someone they respect. If you’re doing well in life, have a cool personality, and lead by example, people naturally take notice without you having to push it. But when someone who’s struggling or doesn’t have much influence tries to preach, it often doesn’t have the same impact. Plus, no one likes feeling like they’re being sold something. If an idea is truly good, and you have to push it too hard, it starts to lose its value. I get the passion behind wanting to save animals — but sometimes that passion can do more harm than good. I could be wrong, but I rarely see people go vegan after a heated debate. Sharing information is one thing, but I don’t like spending my energy trying to convince people who aren’t curious or interested....
