I feel like the app/site never really keeps me logged in even tho I check the mark. Is it supposed to be like that?

Yes its supposed to be like that so you know who is currently online.
The check mark is only to remember your username and password, so you can login quickly.

I'm constantly being asked to approve / decline cookies, if I decline it asks me every time I do something within the site. It's very tedious!!
